Occupational Changes & Support

Occupational Changes and Support for New Mothers is an online educational resource for new mothers, therapy students, therapists, and other maternal specialists that discusses the ongoing challenges that are experienced during the postpartum period of motherhood. The goal of this site is to increase awareness of the various challenges and conditions that are experienced by new mothers as well as the types of assistance that can be provided by specialists such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, and doulas.

Online Resource and Information Tool

Using this website as a resource is helpful in providing further context for various conditions encountered during the postpartum period, learning more about healthcare specialists that work in maternal care, and what they are able to provide in terms of benefits for new mothers. Maternal health is an underserved area of healthcare, especially throughout the immediate postpartum period, with challenges more common amongst a majority of mothers than people realize.

For navigating the site, the Specialists & Conditions page goes over the types of medical and postpartum professionals that can provide support and education to new mothers, with an additional list of common conditions that can provide challenges to a new mother. Support would go over the types of activities and areas of concern specialists would address with new mothers. Under the Resources tab, a list of podcasts, videos, and CEU resources can be accessed for additional learning. Finally, a Blog can be accessed that will follow additional questions and interviews with specialists regarding other topics related to postpartum care.
